The Dwellings Family

The Dwellings Family is a relational network of leaders from all over the world - everyday people, house church leaders, traditional church leaders - all on this journey toward Christ together. We are pioneers in the Church who help people cultivate communities around the presence of Jesus.

Why the Dwellings Family:

As an intentionally decentralized movement, Dwellings has formed a family of those who have been trained in the Dwellings ways. This means those listed in the Dwellings family have completed our Cohort or our online Training Circle, agree to our primary beliefs, and opted in to be connected to those on a similar journey. As we’re relationally connecting, our central staff may be your first point of contact—especially as you’re orienting yourself to Dwellings or our resources.

In other cases, it may be more helpful to connect with someone closer to your context—geographically, culturally, or practically—who has already been shaped by the Dwellings way. This is why we’ve created the Dwellings Family Directory, so you can find a traveling companion and some encouragement as you’re cultivating a community around the presence of Jesus.

We’re thrilled to have Dwellings Ambassadors as crucial parts of the Dwellings Family Network. Ambassadors will be the primary encouragers as you’re on this journey. Find Dwellings Ambassadors listed on our team page here.

Here are a few helpful things to consider as you’re hoping to connect with our Family:

  • The Dwellings Family Directory isn’t to help you find the right group to join, but the courage to begin a community where you are.

    We want to help you:

    • find encouragement from someone in a similar context

    • connect with someone a few steps ahead

    • gain courage and clarity to begin cultivating a community locally

  • We hope for those in the Dwellings Family to maintain relational connection as traveling companions on this journey together. Benefits include:

    • First Thursday Dwellings Family Call

      • Monthly, First Thursday of each month

      • Discipleship-oriented, scripture centered, and presence focused

      • Anchor the family spiritually

      • Provide shared formation across regions

      • Reinforce posture and theology

    • Access to connection with one another through the Dwellings Family Directory

    • Access to a Dwellings Ambassador for encouragement

  • We want you to be trained in our ways before joining the Family so you have a good foundation for understanding what we’re about as a ministry.

    Upon completion of the Dwellings Cohort or the online Training Circle course, you’ll be invited to join our Family. Find out more about journeying through our Cohort or Training Circle here.

  • Dwellings Ambassadors are relational carriers of the Dwellings DNA that help expand the Dwellings movement by:

    • Encouraging Dwellings Family members who are cultivating community

    • Offering prayer, wisdom, and lived perspective to those in the Dwellings Family

    • Reinforcing Dwellings’ shared theology and posture

    • Offering their voice and perspective in First Thursday Family calls

    • Occasionally connecting with leaders in their region

    • Ambassadors are not staff members or regional directors

    Ambassadors may offer:

    • encouragement and prayer

    • stories from their own context

    • perspective shaped by lived experience

    • help discerning next steps

    Ambassadors do not:

    • represent Dwellings as an institution

    • speak on behalf of the organization

    • provide formal oversight or accountability

    • replace local church leadership

    We trust the Holy Spirit to lead each connection with wisdom, humility, and discernment.
